Separation statement. The University Pest Reference is maintained independently of the consulting practice described on this page. Engagement with the practice is not required to use the reference, and the reference does not change based on who is or is not a client.

The author of this reference, Trenton S. Frazer, Board Certified Entomologist (BCE #B3413), maintains a professional consulting practice, Frazer Applied Entomology. Through that practice he can be retained by universities, colleges, research institutes, and their counsel for the work described below. The practice is national in scope. Engagements are fee-based.

The BCE credential is held by Mr. Frazer personally and is issued by the Entomological Society of America Certification Corporation. It can be verified on the ESACC roster.

Campus Pest Compliance Review

A fixed-fee engagement that answers two questions for one campus: which pest control authorities reach each zone, and whether the institution's records show each requirement was met. It is organized by zone and by authority: requirement, record found, gap, and who owns the correction. It is a review of what the records and conditions show, not a certification of compliance.

Points at which a review may be useful:

• Before an AAALAC site visit, an APHIS inspection, or a biosafety program review
• After an inspection finding, an IACUC semiannual finding, or a health department citation in dining
• After a bed bug, cockroach, or rodent complaint in student housing
• When a pest control contract is up for renewal or rebid
• When a claim or lawsuit names pest conditions (engaged through counsel)

What a Board Certified Entomologist Can Be Retained to Do

Zone-by-zone program assessment

An entomological assessment of a campus's animal facilities, laboratories, kitchens, housing, and grounds, and of its current pest program, against the authorities that apply to each.

IPM program and SOP writing

Written integrated pest management programs and standard operating procedures for vivaria, laboratories, and insectaries, built around the documents on this reference.

Contract and scope review

Independent review of an existing pest control agreement or solicitation, ahead of the institution's next decision point.

Entomologist of Record engagement

An ongoing arrangement under which a named Board Certified Entomologist is responsible for the entomological basis of the campus pest program and available to facilities, EHS, animal care, and housing leadership.
